iTunes is a good audio player but it's too limited and too bulky to be considered the best. You have to have it if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch but if you don't have either I don't recommend installing it. First off you have to install Quicktime as an additional software to get it to work. You will also notice it installs many other services as well, some which are not need but you aren't given an option to install them or not. Secondly it's slow at starting up and can freeze your pc when you try and close it. MediaMonkey and Winamp are a lot better choices for non iPhone/iPod Touch users. Even then your best off only using iTunes for the apps market and to sync your devices, while using Winamp or MediaMonkey as your audio player.

Pros
  • Apps Market
  • Syncing of iPod Touch and iPhone
Cons
  • Slow
  • Limited in audio features compared to other audio players
  • Resource hog
  • Requires Quicktime to run
  • Forces other services and software on the user
  • Too big in size for what it does.
